Fun at Hilton Hawaiian Village, 12/21/10

Derek and Milton S. met me at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon.

I never get tired of shooting at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, look what I found on the side of Rainbow Tower facing Diamond Head.

Cool huh, how apropos!
Always checking for different angles.

Since I intentionally only brought my Panasonic Lumix ZS3 - I started to check out my Scene Mode.

First I tried "Panorama Assist". It is really cool, after taking the shot the next shot has a faint image of a portion of the previous one. You can choose: left to right, right to left, up to down and you know the last choice. I just shot 2 images.

Using Photoshop in CS4, I made a Panorama. Hee hee, I got to go back and see if the first area was curved.
"Pin Hole"

This one is just a macro shot.
Not until I saw this pic on my computer did I realize there were coins beneath this heron's feet.
Spent some time with this wheel.

What a fun day, need to go back Derek and Milton S.

Tom Servais and Kelia Moniz, 12/18/10

Milton of "Eyes of Hawaii", a photography club that I belong to, provided a photo shoot with famous surf photographer ~ Tom Servais.

The waves at the North Shore were not very high but we very fortunate that Kelia Moniz was surfing. As Tom pointed out she is extremely graceful and surfs well. We could not take enough pics of her.
I tightly cropped this , she had so much fun, smiling all the time.

A crop of the above pic, again to show how happy she is surfing. I wish the waves were higher, she would have looked even more terrific!
Those who didn't get a chance to come out missed out. Amy and her daughter left before this group shot. Also Ross was not in either, he was helping to shoot. Milton, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to shoot with Tom Servais; he certainly was very kind and willing to share his knowledge with us.

Tom thought he would be just teaching us how to shoot surfing shots but he was extremely happy that Kelia was there and he got awesome shots. Look at his camera, the biggest one. Hee hee, mine is the smaller one with the bag hanging from the tripod.

Please check out the links I provided they are the ones with the yellow fonts.
Just a pic of a sign made from a broken surfboard.

Tonight, I also posted: Waikiki Night Happenings, 12/4/10.

Erick and I spent an evening checking out happenings in Wakiki's night scene. Check out his blog We were first hoping get a beautiful sunset but clouds were in the way.
Not far from our sunset shots, we came across Joe the fiddler. We really enjoyed listening him play. He even played Japanese and Chinese songs for us.

It was nice seeing Waikiki all decorated.

A little window shopping...
had to tell Erick, let's go.
Even the silverman became gold for the season.
This magician added water to the bowls, drank, showed them empty, and then showed water flowing from them. What!
There was another person who juggled basketballs and other tricks with the basketballs. We didn't want to distract him, so we didn't take any pictures. He was really talented.

Women's Basketball, 11/27/10

Hey hey ~ Erick, Hiromi and I went to see the women's basketball again. This time we were closer to the players.

Everyone is at attention for the Star Spangled Banner and Hawaii Pono`i.

I enjoy capturing the intensity of the players. However tonight, I was unable to get many sharp images - uggh.

Wow, was I lucky to get this shot.
This was a tough game. It ended with a tie 55:55. Then during overtime it ended with another tie 57:57. The 2nd and last overtime, Hawaii did come out ahead 57:63.

Talent! NPAC, 11/21/10

I was in tears as I watched this performance. Robin and his wife Michelle Kitsu have given to Nanakuli High and Intermediate students the opportunity to be part of this Performing Arts also known as NPAC

Infact it is "open to any student from grades 5 to 12 from any public school. No performance experience required, just a desire to learn and grow and work as a team" as written in this program.

Before the show

Inbetween the songs, there were individual sharing of how their participation with NPAC affected their lives. Let the tears flow.

Robin Kitsu - thanks for a terrific performance!!!

Jalna it was so much fun shooting with you. You have to check her blog. Thank you Sunny-Aloha Miller, Jalna considers you - volunteer extraordinaire. Kudos for arranging this photo opportunity. (Too bad we weren't able to stay for the 4 hour performance, we left during intermission)

Later I joined Eyes of Hawaii at 5:30 to capture the sunset below the Light House on Diamond Head Road.

Tonight, I was very determined to blog so you will also see, these posts:
