Fireworks, 9/22/17 (only the first 2 are the same)

What a fun time we had! Derek, Walter, Karen, Dylan, Curtis, Jennifer, Dewey, Angie and I met early to find parking and nab a spot to take photos of the fireworks. Us women bonded while the men went to photograph the sunset.

Did a couple of photos prior to fireworks.

Joan our angel, came with our preordered bentos and we had ourselves a picnic. We do wish she could have stayed but Glenn could not find a space.

I also got first hand the difference between a full frame camera and a APS -C camera. Derek was looking at my live view and realized why I could not capture more - width not distance.

Today, 10/1/17, Dewey was kind and met me at Burger King - I learned a lot but my laptop ran out of juice. I converted my RAW files into JPEG ahead of time and therefore was able to use Elements 6.

On my own - as you can see, I need more practice with adding more water.

Thanks again Dewey for your time and patience. I marvel how you are able to see the possibilities.

Zoo - plan B, 9/16/17

Plan B? I am fortunate that my high school friends and I are in touch with each other. Today, Lois,  Susie, and I planned to go to Lyon Arboretum.  However, Susie was not able to make it and when Lois and I got close to Lyon Arboretum, we had to turn around since we found out that it is closed for a private party. Plan B- here we come. Susie's response to a text message - "Best laid plans of mice and men!"

It was fun going with Lois, since she has not been at the Zoo forever. She got excited with this tree with its variety of leaf colors. I also enjoyed seeing this.

I had to laugh, looks like this is a naughty elephant having time out.

Pretty much the only happy inhabitants, the penguins. With this heat - other animals were lethargic.

Did I say lethargic?

Both were not having it today.

A little loving.

These next 2 were behind cages. I showed Lois with my camera, I am able to exclude the fence, although the back one was difficult to do.

Just one more photo, Lois, please.

Actually, I did not have to beg Lois, we had to leave, got to get back before the parking meter expires.
We had a wonderful time and hope to do Plan A soon.

Zoo, 9/9/17

Off to Starbucks with Derek, Milton S., and Walter - then to the Zoo by 9.

I hear my friends calling out - "it is raining" but I thought the rain was fun to capture.

Who are they? They were having fun and allowed me to take their photos. I asked if I could give them these but they said, no need.

Kukabara

The tiger was just pacing.
I overheard a man talking to a lady about photo tips and I thought maybe they were Patrick and Gayle who we were suppose to meet earlier by the ducks (just a little miscommunication). If you know me, I can be an introvert but I also can be an extrovert - so I asked if they were Patrick and Gayle. Yes!!!

Thanks Derek for helping me with this.

These two were a bit affectionate.

These warthogs say it all, it was hot - many of the animals were lethargic and hiding. I joke about being related to them and that I was hoping for a family reunion. But they did not greet me - too hot. My other favorite animals are the orangutans - but Rusty was hiding under something white and Violet was sleeping by the glass.

We gobbled up lunch at the Kim Chee in Kaimuki.
