Hawaii State Ballet, 5/22/09

You may want to see the Hawaii State Ballet perform at the Ala Moana Center.  They perform once a month for about half an hour.  I was really impressed by their ability.  Look how young they are.

Memorial Day at Punchbowl, 5/25/09

I am not sure if I was able to capture the magnitude of this National Cemetery which is located in the Pu'owaina Crater (Punchbowl). This cemetery was built in 1948.

To see a larger view, double click on the picture.  This is another attempt to show you the numerous flags at each grave.

"Lady Columbia symbolizes all grieving mothers and looks out on the cemetery that fills the 116-acre Punchbowl Crater. The view from the Punchbowl encompasses the city of Honolulu from Waikiki and Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor. "

Promenade - HDR, 5/24/09

Another fun day with Erick and Shun Wah taking 3 exposures of each picture and then blending them with the computer using Photomatix.

We took shots at the Promenade which is located at the end of the Ala Wai Canal.
My post of Magic Island - HDR, 5/22/09 explains this effect.

I am really enjoying using Photomatix to create a blend of 3 exposures.

These first 2 are the same picture
This one is saved as Highlights and Shadows - Adjusted.

It is fun going to ethnic festivals.  It is too bad I couldn't stay long.  I heard that I missed a lot, especially Jay-R.

This is a continuation of using Photomatix which creates a High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR).  We were fortunate to have great weather.

Here is the bandstand with Iolani Palace in the background.

A glimpse of the main post office

King Kamehameha statue is in front of the Judicial building.

Kawaiaha`o Church is in the background.

Notice "Photomatix" watermarks?   After taking 3-5 exposures of the same picture, this program will merge them.  You can then make other adjustments.
