Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden, 1/29/17

Hoomaluhia here we come. We were fortunate that the weather was good, not too hot and not too cold.

Very cool leaf.

I am thinking the long line is the waterfall line.

Literally was lying on the ground for this one.

Little drama on my part and lesson learned. When we went to lunch, I could not find my pouch which had my wallet. I checked with Denny's but no luck. Called Hoomaluhia and hurray it was there. I learned that it was found on a bench so my lesson is to look back before I leave some where. I am so fortunate that a very honest person returned it without anything missing.

Thanks Curtis, Derek, Dewey, Milton S. and Walter for a very fun day!!!

Kea'iwa Heiau State Recreation Area, Aiea Heights Drive, 1/16/17

This is a spiritual area as I saw the ruins of a heiau, Hawaiian temple. According to Wikipedia, it says it was erected sometime in the 17th century. In 1956 a state park was created under the Territory of Hawaii. It is very well kept.

I chose not to photograph the heiau. I chose to be artsy fartsy with the light.

I was pleasantly surprised when I raised my camera to the light and got this image.

Looks like this picnic table is an original using logs without modern machinery.

As we approached the hiking area, we saw a memorial plaque commemorating a World War II plane crash, May 5, 1944.

I also decided not to hike the Aiea Loop trail but took a few more photos.

Thanks Brian for spending my Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with me.

Before going back to work on Friday, we (Derek, Milton, Dean, Curtis and I) did the North shore.

First stop...
Kualoa RegionalPark and China Man's Hat

Curtis and  I saw the beautiful light on the Ko`olau Mountains.

I then went to another spot and enjoyed this coral.

This collage was done using Instagram collage application.

Second stop...

I chose to look at another area. The guys wondered where I went.

Third stop...
Shark's Cove

I worked hard to get a photo of this crab.

Fourth stop...
Haleiwa Park

Where are the turtles?

Jelly fish bubble

Got Margarita? We went to Cholos for lunch. I ordered a Cuban Mojito - lights out for me in the car ride back.  Thanks guys for making my Winter break fun (Zoo 12/23/16, Aquarium 12/26/16, and today)!!!
