Kualoa Reginal Park, 5/23/20

This blog will be in two parts. The first part are photos from my Canon camera. The second part are photos I made with my iPhone8 and I posted on Instagram and Facebook

Gary and I met Derek and Lorraine @8:30.

The water was super clear.

In the second part, I will tell you more about this sea slug

I will also tell you more about this female seal, which Derek and Gary kept telling me "seal". Me, "huh?" Lorraine luckily was swimming nearby so she also got to see this adorable seal.

Second part:

The life of a seal. This lady is waiting for the seal to turn over to see if she is the seal from Niihau. Apparently, they are "branded" or tagged depending on which island they are from. There were lots of large sand crabs, thankfully only this one was out of its tunnel. You can tell by the size of the openings with lard sand mounds. Oh boy, dessert from Waiahole Poi Factory - so yummy "Sweet Waiahole Lady" (warm kulolo topped with coconut ice cream).

Along here, we saw this sea slug. We sprinkled ocean water on it to see its reaction.

I wanted to include the video but it would not upload. Basically we sprinkled ocean water on it and it undulated.

We were fortunate the weather was really nice. Thanks Derek for asking if anyone wanted to join you and Lorraine.

Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail, 5/17/20

I met up with Derek and Lorraine around 9:30. I took a chance and went to the parking lot although it was full. I was very fortunate that 2 cars were leaving. The car in front of me got the first one. We took the Makapu'u trail.

The black thing sticking up, I think is what we call Pele's chair.

 A few flowers...

Even if it is a weed

We think someone was in trouble

Looks like Molokai

Diamond Head in the far distance

A closer view of Diamond Head. Do you see what I see? Actually my friend Gary pointed this out a while back. Diamond Head from this view looks like a lady sleeping with her head on the left. The first indent is the bottom of her chin then it slopes up creating her chest and tummy, then it tapers down.

 Not going there.

We went to the left about 10 steps forward and we got this beautiful view

All in all, it looked like a regular day since 99.5 percent were not wearing face masks. There were a lot of people. Derek, Lorraine, myself and maybe 3 other people did. When I was leaving, Christine from Denny's recognized me. She said they will be open in a couple of weeks which I believe is June 5. Christine is the best waitress, so I was happy to see her. Her friend's car was parking perpendicular to mine but not blocking, plus they were at their car.

It was really a beautiful day. I am glad we went!!!

As of March 17, our state has been in quarantine to protect each other Covid-19. This virus has become a pandemic.

I thought, I share what I have been sharing on my Instagram and Facebook posts.

Monday, April 13
This is my favorite. I am glad this showed up on Facebook again. Humor helps during this time.

Monday, April 13
Completed a zoom workout with my awesome coaches. My laptop is at this level which helps them see me and check for adjustments. We are with Egan Inoue Fit Forever group. Lol, for us 55+, goal is to make us stronger!!!

Thursday, April 16
Got some outdoor walking @6:15 pm with face mask, the new norm. Other norm, order take out and wait outside for your food to be brought outside. Notice social distancing. Yes, this is the time to be safe!!! Best to all of you wherever you are in this world.

Sunday, April 19
Time for: sew, no sew, clean desk, fun walk, cheers...This month plus of quarantine has been productive.

Wednesday, April 22
Waiting for 1. my turn outside  2. the golden hour

Thursday, April 23
The sky is lit. Second photo, I zoomed in.  I am using my iPhone8

Friday, April 24
I actually can't see the sunset. I have to lean far to the left away from the wall to capture the beautiful sky. I do have this ribbon on my phone to secure the phone from falling

Saturday, April 25
I love seeing the new leaves emerge. There is a tinnier leaf hiding behind the little one. I am in awe with Mother Nature.

This is the site, I used for my mask.

During this time, I also have been assisting a Special Education teacher with video conferencing with students. It has been a challenge, which program to use, how to work with students that are not sitting next to you with materials and manipulatives.

May everyone stay safe!!!

Canon 80D, 4/5/20

I ruined my Canon T5i when we went to Waimea Falls on March 15. I was not thinking, yup - I tried taking photos in the rain. I thankfully had another camera that day - the Canon T6 is not as good.

Long story short, Canon Service company here confirmed it would cost about $300.00 for parts and labor and no guarantee. However, they have a refurbished program.

I got a Canon 80D and due to this "stay at home" because of COVID-19 virus pandemic, I was not excited to try the new camera.

Well now, I am using it and I do like its features. I especially like the 45 focus point option.

As you can see, these are things I have at home. I used my 24-105 to have flexibility.

Stay safe and the best to everyone.
