Fun Filled Day, 2/2/13

Being that today, Feb. 2 - is the official Groundhog Day. I had to find out if spring is coming early -  "legend has it that if Punxsutwaney Phil sees his shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn't see his shadow, spring will come early." Yes! It will be an early spring this year. Believe it or not this is the 127th Groundhog Day for Punxsutaney, Pennsylvania.

Although, I have never tried Stand Up Paddling, my friend Donna does.
I had to get a shot of this board, Peyton's friends are kind to let us use their boards and paddles. Hmm, maybe I will be brave and try -  I heard even sitting and paddling is great for your obliques.

Later I went to Chinatown for a "Chinatown Parade" to bring in the Chinese New Year which this year is Feb. 10.  Lots of my photo friends chose to be at the beginning of the parade - good idea - not so crowded.

I had to take this picture of this flag, who ever knows what it says, please leave me a comment. Believe or not I used to be able to read Chinese but I have forgotten since I don't practice.

Instead of joining the festivities in Chinatown - some of us went to dinner at Soul De Cuba. Everyone enjoyed the dish they ordered.

I had to save room for Malasadas. This weekend was also the Punahou Carnival. These Portuguese doughnuts are to die for. So Jenny and I made a bee line for it. The guys were not as enthused as we were. Also I think the whole island was at the Carnival; we really had a tough time getting there.
It was a joy to hear Sunway Chong's sing, she also happens to be one of our friend's cousin, Milton C.

I did not want to leave the carnival without taking some fun shots of the ferris wheel. These were hand held shots.

Since the Punahou Carnival draws a large crowd, we decided to take the bus instead of looking for parking. However when we left we missed our stop. We decided how about taking pictures from the road above of the cars' headlights and taillights. This picture took about 15 seconds to create - by the way these were not handheld - I was able to find a surface that my camera could rest on.
Did I say "I had a fun filled day?"

After reading my friend SW's comment "was this all in just one day??" I thought I share that I also had a hair appointment that day that turned out to be 3 hours long. Guess who took a 2 hour nap the next day.

SW, yes all in one day. I even went to have my hair done and that took 3 hours. Thanks - I try really hard to take interesting pictures but I also have a lot of pictures that need to be deleted. As for the freeway, I did use openings to place my camera. I should edit my blog.
