Waimea Falls Park, 3/20/10

Hawaii Photography Society (HPS) met with a wet Waimea Falls Park. True photographers don't let the weather get in the way although it is a challenge to protect our gear. Hee hee, we just didn't want to go home after driving out there.

Here are my pics, I never made it to the famous Waimea Falls - too wet.

At lunch, we were fortunate to see peacocks.
I was shooting both color and black and white and I was amazed to see what the "eyes" look like. As you can see it has texture.
I never saw the back of a peacock before - pretty cool, huh?

16th Annual Honolulu Festival, 3/14/10

This festival has grown each year - now with 4 venues of entertainment: Hawaii Convention Center, Ala Moana Center, Waikiki Beach Walk, and Waikiki Shopping Center - from March 13-14. It concludes with a parade down Waikiki.

Shun Wah and I went to the Hawaii Convention Center from 12:30 -3:00 on March 14.

Wow! It was actually hard to choose pictures to show the excitement and talent of these performers.

Sugaren - Yosakoi

Descendance -Aborigine Dance

Chomploo Aya - Ryukyu Karate Dance

Ryukyu Koten Afuso-ryu Ongaku Kenkyuu Choichi Kai - Classical music

NHK MITO KOMAKI KEI HULA HALAU - Hula
It was a halau (hula group), but I just chose this dancer.
So what are these photographers shooting?
Enjoy the Honolulu Festival with Momoi - Idol

She was so cute and it was so much fun to see her fans participating. The audience also got glow sticks.

As we were leaving, we saw a display of the previous 15 festivals. I was happy to see this.

Kamehame Ridge, 2/20/10

Anyone who knows me knows I don't like to hike. However, the hike that the Hawaii Photographic Society (HPS) went on was just perfect. Kamehame Ridge is in Hawaii Kai and the view really was wonderful.

These bikers are tough, kind of steep, huh?

I thought this water tank was a classic.
Using my wide angle lens:

Nature was extremely cooperative on this day. My 70-200 mm zoom lens combined with my 15 mp camera got these shots for me.

This hike gave me opportunities to use all my lens - here is a macro shot.
As we were leaving, we saw vehicles with hang gliding equipment. So what do we do...we go back. I was a bit chicken to go back up to the look out platform, so I'm happy to have gotten these shots from down below.

Uggh, I think I am addicted to taking pictures. While enjoying a nice lunch with our group at the Blue Water Grill, I could not resist taking this picture.
Hope you get a chance to go to Kamehame Ridge.

Katelynn, 2/13/10

Our photo friend, Gary Nakanishi's granddaughter had a ballet performance at Ala Moana Center Stage. I was impressed with her stage presence. I was fortunate to get these shots.

I also shot some other dancers. I was so happy to catch this little one in flight.

Her teacher also performed for us.

(You may notice that I did 3 posts tonight: Katelynn, Light Painting, Night in Chinatown Parade.)
