Curbing my activities, 2/12/22

(I like to introduce my photos rather than use captions.)

To protect my grandson from COVID-19, his parents and I agree to curb my activities.

January 16, 2021...

I drove to Irvine to visit my friend's sister. I had the best Korean "Hot-Stone Bibimbap" the rice on the inside edge of the stonebowl was super crispy. I think they added oil to the rice.

I thought this was cute as we passed by this Ramen restaurant.

January 26, 2022...

Naomi's husband suggested we hike here. Good idea because its path is a fire road. By the time, we got to the sign in the next photo - it was a mile from the entrance. We decided perfect and returned back to our car.

After that, we had happy hour at this 1931 hotel. I have always been attracted to The Georgian when we go on our walks along Palisades Park in Santa Monica.

I am so happy that I am living in the same building as my son. My place has 2 bedrooms. Jon uses one for his studio which he pays for. What is awesome is I can see his art in progress. Here is a link to his website www.jonchingart.com

Jon's homemade pizza.

I am taking the time to make better meals.
Here is a recipe for the coffee jelly in my almond milk https://youtu.be/qmr0is5WYhI

Thursdays are my night to cook. I made a Mediterranean dish. I really like it. It is a bowl of yum.

Ole is such a joy.

In my patio and chilling.

Ole is not sure about this swing.

Casey's friend Jen knitted this cute orange overall. Ole is 5 months old, these soft bottom shoes are just to complete the outfit.

Jon did a cute caption for this photo, "Ole needed to brace himself when he heard how much that croissant was!"

Enjoy the videos

I am hoping more people get their vacinnation, booster and wear their masks. It will be wonderful, to be able to socialize.

Life is good, January 14, 2022

When I posted on social media that I went to Santa Barbara, a friend suggested I visit Solvang. What a nice surprise,  it was so charming. I went on January 2.

I found out the tour for this mission was closed for the holidays.

I came across many bakeries and asked someone at a store which one they would suggest. Yay, I am happy I asked.

My friend Naomi and I get together on Wednesdays. I have always wanted to get a photo of this building, usually there are cars in front of it.

We had a delicious lunch here.

I have to be in the mood to make jewelry. This was done on January 8.

This past Wednesday, Naomi and I went to Mitsuwa to get ingredients. I was craving noodles.  I also got pork cut for Shabu Shabu and marinated in shoyu for flavor - it was so tender. The fish cake was also delicious.

He is so much fun. I enjoy hearing him.

I hope everyone is having a good 2022. Stay safe.

This blog is my journal. I know my grandson will continue to change so it is good to keep those changes in one place.

December 9...

It was getting a bit chillier. Casey's friend, Emily, knitted this adorable wool sweater. They found out from their trip to Hawaii that Ole is much happier if he gets to go out.

December 17...
Thank you Jon for driving to Almansor Park in Alhambra (16 miles away).  It was also fun having Alexandra join us. I am so glad Jon got take out from You Kitchen down the street. This Chinese lunch was delish!!! Ole was licking his bib like he was licking an ice cream cone - (one day he will get to really have ice cream).

December 18...
Today, I looked at the map and thought why not drive to Santa Barbara (95 miles away)? The distance did not deter me. I did choose not to use the freeway. GPS directed me to Oxnard, Ventura, Summerland and then to the shopping district (State Street) of Santa Barbara. By the time I got to Ventura and saw the sign Donuts, I just had to stop. Perfect timing because I was hungry and thirsty - yes I also had iced coffee. The other 2 photos were at Santa Barbara. When I went home, I did use the freeway - took the 101, 405 and 10 to Culver City.

December 22...

Off to Pasadena with my friend Naomi. I was able to take the photo of the building on the left, since Naomi was driving. As we walked along Colorado Street, we saw this French place.  It was fun listening to a customer and the owner speaking in French. The Rosebowl Parade uses Colorado Street. I was thrilled to see the Fall leaves.

December 24...
Jon and Casey have a tradition- Frangelico in hot chocolate - more please. Notice this bottle, it replicates Father Angelico who created this liqueur including the rope around the waist of his robe.

December 25...
The day started with homemade waffles, topped with homemade whipped cream. Our coffee was embellished with Frangelico, why not, right?

Random photos of Ole...

I hope you had a Merry Christmas - Happy Holidays. May you have a wonderful 2022.
