The Arboretum, 4/10/22

I am so fortunate to be in the mainland, there are so many places to visit. My friend Maria suggested The Arboretum It was in Arcadia, 18 miles northeast from me.

I asked where The Cresent Farm was because of the poppies. As I walked along this path, I noticed that there was a peacock lane. The Arboretum protects peacocks from having to dodge people if they happen to be on the pathways. Peacocks can get vicious if you are too close to them - there are signs warning us to stay 10 feet away from them.

This peacock enjoyed the attention it was getting

He was up there for a long time. Most people had already left.

There were many peacocks both male and female. The male ones were definitely showing off their feathers with their dance and mating calls.

This is a 127 acre botanical garden. There is a little lake where ducks were hanging out. It actually sounded like I was at the zoo, the ducks are loud like gibbons. Even when they flew across, they were quacking.

I saw some photographers with large lens. Luckily, I am not shy. I found out that they enjoy photographing birds. They got amazing photos of humming birds, other fowls as well as flowers. They have a good eye. Humming birds are extremely challenging, they move so quickly. One of the guys showed me his photo of these beautiful whitish poppies. He had to give me specific instructions as to where to find them because I could not find them.

They were basically across

and on the same side as the waterfalls.

They also suggested I check out the rose garden.

It was such a fun day. I think there were 2 or 3 ladies getting photographed. I saw her, another one in blue and one in green.

This is bottlebrush tree.

I did not give this place justice. It is a huge botanical garden.

Home and Descanso Gardens, 3/27/22

Mitsuwa is a Japanese market which has a mini food court and some small stores. My friend Heather has one and suggested I get this earthen pot. You really have to follow the instructions to have your rice come out well. I am not sure which rice to use. I use the one in this blog.

Every Wednesday, I walk with my friends at Palisades Park which is actually a long path about 2 miles which ends with the Santa Monica Pier. This is so Los Angeles with these Palm trees.

This past Sunday, March 27, I had a lovely day. Look at the street name, it is Honolulu. Casa Cordoba is at 2331 Honolulu Ave. Montrose, California. Vicki and I were college roommates. I enjoyed meeting her friend Tommy. You know me, ice cream is a must.

We later enjoyed Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive  La CanĂ£da Flintridge.

This a double tulip

Jon made this Korean dinner. The kalbi was delicious. He cooked it on the barbecue in my little porch.

Food and the fam, 3/11/22

I have been enjoying Japanese food. There is a Santouka outside of Don Quijote in Honolulu - the town one. The one here is at Mitsuwa, they have a mini food court.

I drove to Irvine to meet a friend and she suggested this place. This Tonkatsu was delicious "oishii"!!!

Wandering around Sawtelle Blvd.; I was excited to see this place on Mississippi Ave. I certainly got my sweet tooth fix.

Most days, I stroll my grandson around the neighborhood for his nap, only stopping if I see something I like.

I like this photo as well as like his baby flawless skin. Mom and Ole Face Timing, This was the first time mom was away.

March 5, Jon said he was copying Ole.

March 10. I wanted to take a photo of them going upstairs. I am so very fortunate to be living in this 4 unit building and I am downstairs from them.

February 19. Ole not exactly happy.

February 21. Ole learning to open his hand to pet their cat.

March 3. I love hearing his voice and seeing his smiles.

March 6. He has so much energy. I am bracing myself - when he crawls and walks.

Just thought, I share this. In Los Angeles, you never know what you will see.

I hope all is well. This has been a rough two years, for everyone.
