Korean Festival, 7/11/09

Although this was a Korean Festival, other cultural groups were invited to participate.

Chinese Lion Dance:
The little lion was so cute.

Taiko drummers:

The song contest was really good.  She was part of a pair that won the song contest.
In between contestants, I enjoyed looking up.
I was nicely surprised as I zoomed and noticed this was a FedEx airplane.
I had a difficult time taking pics.  Notice the soft white area on the right; it was a hat.

This was Kwan Hee.  The girls went nuts.  He is really famous.
I had to really crop this picture, because on the left I got someone's hair.  I am way too short. We got stuck sitting in the 4th row.  Not fair.

They were the last 2 famous performers from Korea.

Wanda and Rolando's reception was at the Hawaii Prince, very elegant.

Her father was so adorable.  He spoke in Chinese with a translator offering a toast to the guests.
The happy couple.

Did I mention the happy couple?

Fireworks from the Yachts Behind the Ilikai, 7/4/09

I had a fun time with Milton and Derek.
We began with the lily pond in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village sign.

I checked out some buildings in the area.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon
The Ilikai yacht harbor.
Torches at the Ilikai.

Uggh, I so regret not checking my shutter speed.  I think it was so precious seeing them.

The lighting on Diamond Head was cool at this time of day.

Using my 70mm range, I got these shots from the fireworks off Magic Island.

Whew, I think I have finally caught up with my postings.  Tonight, I posted  5 events.

It is cool, that I got to celebrate on July 1 - Canada Day and now I celebrate July 4 - Independence Day.

As we waited for the fireworks, it was fun being with friends and all of us with our tripods.

It was fun.

Thanks to Luther, I finally can take a moon shot.

I knew we would have to leave by 7 am inorder to get back to Kelownas' airport.  It would take 6 hours by car to get there.

Although I intended to wake up at 5, I woke up at 4:oo to this.  It was 6.6 degrees Celsius = 43.88 degrees Fahrenheit. It was so beautiful!

Although I couldn't get a clear shot, I am happy I got this duck in flight.
As I was shooting pictures, I could hear this humming bird.

Here is a closer view.

Needless to say, I slept as Tony and Rocky drove back.  Just before getting to the airport, we had a nice lunch with Jadine.
