Marion County Fair - Ohio, 7/5/12

These eggs were actually in Nancy's refrigerator, I have only seen white or brown ones.  Okay, so there must be more varieties of hens here in Ohio. We decided to do a photo shoot using a bird's nest.
It was fun to see Richard see his hometown fair from a different perspective. We went up to the bleachers and looked down - when he was a kid this fair was ginormous! (Sorry no pictures of the carnival rides)

It surprised me to see this vendor. We ordered Chicken fried rice.  Seeing that I too am Chinese, he gave us a lot. Thanks Mr. Ta.
 The judging barn...

Blue ribbon - chicken!

How do you judge a duck? Richard said, he is feeling their muscle tone.

Behind the scene...

Yup, this is what our Thanksgiving turkey looks like.

(just a sampling of the animals that were there - used my Sony Nex)

One more picture, this little one was "baa baaing"

Toronto, 6/29 - 7/1/12

Rocky and I have been friends for about 10 years. She and her family now live in Toronto. She got us Toronto CityPass which includes 5 places.

This first one was the CN Tower  (Canadian National named after the railway company that built it). On completion in 1976 it was the world's tallest free standing structure.

Canon 5D Mark III with a 16-35 lens, and through the wire fence.
Below is the Blue Jay's baseball field
Canon 50D with a 70-200 lens, shooting down from the glass bottom floor.
I could not stand on that portion of the floor, but angled myself to get this shot.
Others were more gutsy, laid on it and jumped on it.

These yachts were further out and shot this through the fence.
As we walked back to our car, we saw this.
Looking back we could see people doing the edge walk.

Second pass was the  Casa Loma, Spanish word for Hill House. It was amazing architecture and I read it has 98 rooms.

The chandeliers were very cool.

The third was the Toronto Zoo. Yes it was a very hot day!
The other polar bear as you can see chose to sleep.

Jaguar. Just incase you thought it was a cheetah or a leopard.
 Okay, more sleeping animals

Rocky and I ran all over the zoo to find the white lions, they too were sleeping and I could not get a good angle to take their picture.

Rocky's husband and Richard also decided to sit it out. What you don't see is the umbrella they are under.
Not enough time for the other 2.  We enjoyed a wonderful time, thanks Rocky!

Niagara Falls, 6/28 - 29/12

This picture is from the link. Looking at this picture the falls on the left is the American Falls and the right is the Canadian Falls/Horshoe Falls.

Yes, I have seen photos of Niagara Falls but what you don't get from photos are the sound of the rushing water. We are looking at the American Falls from New York. (Word to the wise when looking for directions - destination should be "Niagra Falls Attraction".)  There is a Niagra Falls, New York.

Voila! Try to imagine the booming sound of the gushing waters...

Proof, I was there. Good bye Niagara Falls Attraction, New York.

Now over to the Canadian side, Ontario.
My friend Rocky of Toronto helped me book a room at the Sheraton On The Falls - Niagara Falls, ON
From our room you can still hear the booming gushing sounds of the water.
Using my zoom lens, I like this picture - notice the perspective: people and nature.
From this picture, you can see a smaller fall to the far right.  It is called Bridal Veil Falls.
Here is a better picture of Canadian Falls also known as Horseshoe Falls.
At night, it was like a carnival.
Search lights from Canada helped illuminate the Falls.

The next day, I had to take more pictures from our room.

This structure was taken from Canada however it is in New York and allowed us to get the side of the Falls as you saw in my beginning pictures.
Went out for breakfast and wanted Richard to stand next to the tallest guy.
Okay just a couple more shots before we checked out.
You can experience more of the falls by taking one of these Maid of the Mist boat tours. Both the American and Canadians have this opportunity.
