Okinawan Festival, 9/5-6/09

Saturday night was festive with a Bon Dance at Kapiolani Park. I enjoyed watching this little one.

Bon dances are fun.

The next day, Shun Wah and I went and was approached by this gentleman. He asked if we could take his picture. Would you believe he will be 93 in October?
So ono!
Perfect hat for a hot day.

Hilton Hawaiian Village, 9/5/09

Thanks Derek for wanting to take pictures of the lilies at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Weather was perfect, Derek, Dewey, Angie, Milton, and myself had a great time.

Did you know they have penguins? Hilton Hawaiian Village created a natural setting for them.
They are so adorable!!!
Here is one diving in; it was a hot day.
This turtle was so cute, doesn't he look like he is smiling?

I had a hard time getting good pictures of the carps, I luckily got this one.
Not only were there black-crown night herons, there were flamingos, ducks, swan and some other kind of bird.
These herons really focus on their prey.

Got Ducks? - Hoomaluhia Park, 8/29/09

Eyes of Hawaii had its first annual picnic.  I am quite sure there will be more annual picnics.  It was fun.  We had lots of food and cameras.  After all, we are a photography group.

What caught my eye were the ducks.

There were even coots
Interesting, their feet are not webbed.
Below this coot were lots of red devil fish and some carps.
I liked how the light fell on the lake.
Others were also enjoying this park.

Some foliage.  Thanks Luther I needed help with getting this picture, instead of auto focus, we were doing manual focus.

I had a great day with Milton S., Dewey, Derrek, and Joan.  Milton S. shot me while I shot the road across the way, see the next picture.

It was so enjoyable to capture the ocean as well as the terrain.
fyi, I redid this black and white picture.  Dewey was correct, my previous post did not define the blacks and whites.  Thanks Dewey.

Notice the fishermen, gutsy, huh?

Here is another repost of a black and white.
Click on this picture to view the striations.  This place was so cool, I could stay here for hours.

Just as we were leaving, we saw this canoe race.  I found out the women were doing a 26 miler from Kailua, Oahu.

End of Summer, 8/22/09

Alan and his friends chill out near the Natatorium in Waikiki.  It was a perfect early evening for this get together.  I had to catch the "sweet light" prior to the sun setting.

The Natatorium is now closed to the public, hense this tiny opening.
After I took this picture, I couldn't believe my eye, I saw the green flash.  I just wish I had continued shooting.  Perhaps I would have gotten that green flash.  It happened so quickly.
Ever have creme brulee at a picnic?  Dennis made that happen. Thanks Dennis, it was "to die for".
